Luigi’s Italian Restaurant

The brief

Desianos Limited trades as Luigi’s Italian Restaurant, an Italian restaurant on The Quay in Sandwich, Kent. Its old website supplied its menus as PDF files.

The aim was to rebuild the site as it was, with the same look, wording and links, but with the menus built into the pages and a booking button that is always in reach.

What the site does

• Read every menu as a web page

  Read any of the seven menus (main, lunch, party, dessert, drinks, wine and Christmas) as an ordinary page, with links to each section. Food menus can be filtered by vegetarian and vegan (and gluten free on the main menu), and the original PDFs are kept as downloads where there is one.

• Book a table from any page

  Tap Book a table on any page to reach the restaurant’s existing booking system, which we did not build. Booking opens in a panel on the page, and if the panel cannot open, the button still works as a normal link to the booking page.

• Call or book from a bar on your phone

  On a phone, a bottom bar keeps booking and calling within reach and shows whether the restaurant is open now, worked out in UK time. The layout was checked for sideways scrolling at four screen widths before launch.

• Find everything on one home page

  Find takeaway, groups and golf lunches, gift vouchers, directions, contact and questions in sections of one home page, so there are few places to get lost. Contact, careers and group pre-order forms save every enquiry before any email is sent, so a copy is always kept.

• Old links still work

  The old contact and reservations web addresses still work: they lead to the contact section and the booking page on the new site. The www version of the web address leads to the main address.

Also in place: Cookie choices that give Reject and Accept equal weight, standard security protections, and page titles and descriptions that name Sandwich.

Measured results

We tested the live site on 21 October 2026 with Google’s own speed and quality checks, on a phone with a slow connection and on a computer. We have no measurements of the old site, so these figures stand alone.
